His name may be ordinary sounding, but there’s nothing ordinary about his talent.
As one of Hollywood's most recognizable faces, Larry Miller has appeared in more 50 films, guest-starred on numerous television shows and performed stand-up comedy routines for David Letterman, Jay Leno and many others.

And this summer, he’ll be performing in Norfolk, Neb.

Miller has agreed to be the host and headliner at the 2010 Viaero Great American Comedy Festival in Norfolk, taking to the stage at the Johnny Carson Theatre on Saturday, June 19.

“We considered a lot of comedians, but we kept coming back to Larry Miller,” said Eddie Brill, talent coordinator for the “Late Show with David Letterman” and comedy festival producer. “He’s terrific.”

Miller began his career with a memorable cameo as the brown-nosing store manager in “Pretty Woman” with Richard Gere and Julia Roberts in 1990. He has since gone on to delight audiences in unforgettable roles in such films as "Princess Diaries” with Julie Andrews and Anne Hathaway, “The Nutty Professor” with Eddie Murphy and “10 Things I Hate About You” with the late Heath Ledger. Most recently, he had a role in this year’s “Valentine’s Day” movie.

On television, he’s had comedic and dramatic roles in “Seinfeld,” “Boston Legal,” “Desperate Housewives,” “Law & Order,” “Monk” and “Medium,” among many others.

He has starred in several of his own HBO comedy specials and on Broadway in Neil Simon’s play “The Dinner Party.” He’s also been a guest on “The Late Show with David Letterman,” “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” and “Real Time with Bill Maher.”

And if that isn’t enough, he’s also the author of the best-selling book titled “Spoiled Rotten America.”
“We think audience members will love having a chance to see Larry Miller perform,” said Lora Young, executive director of the festival. “It’s going to be a real treat having him in Norfolk.”

Miller will perform at and also host the Saturday, June 19, festival performance, which will include the finals of the festival’s stand-up comedy competition.

To make the performance more accessible to all, Young said, ticket prices have been dropped dramatically from last year’s festival finale — from $50 to this year’s $20. “We want to make it affordable for as many people as possible to attend,” she said.

The June 19 performance also will feature the awarding of the festival’s “Comedy Legend” award. Previous recipients have been Dick Cavett and Bill Dana.

Auditions in about 10 cities across the nation for the 20 stand-up comedians to compete at the 2010 festival have concluded and decisions will be made shortly on who the invitees will be.
